“For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. For in fact the body is not one member but many.”
- 1 Corinthians 12:12-14
Commentary: The fish was a symbol used by the early Christian as a means of identifying eachother during the era of persecution. In this cross, the fish(Christians) are facing the Eucharist and eachother but they are only united through the Body of Christ. What unites Christians is the Holy Communion, distributed by the priesthood. St. Ambrose of Milan tell us: “There is one work because there is one mystery, there is one baptism because there was one death for the world. There is a unity of outlook which cannot be separated.” We are one body in Christ.
