ⲁⲛⲁcⲧⲁcⲓc [ʀᴇsᴜʀʀᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ]

The peacock is an ancient symbol in the Christian faith, it symbolizes resurrection, immortality and eternal life. It also symbolizes the Christian partaking of God’s grace through Holy Communion and Baptism.

The two peacocks are depicted, in this carving, leaning into the cross, thus partaking of Christ’s gift to us. They are being covered by the Cross as Christ covers our sins and is our refuge.
