“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.”

Commentary: St. Ephrem poetically explains that Christ’s cross manifested the Tree of Life from the garden of Eden. “The Tree of Life sank down into the virgin ground and was hidden to burst forth and reappear on Golgotha”. Christ’s Cross fulfills His desire for us to have immortality with Him. St. Ephrem states that the fruit of the Cross(the new Tree of Life) is Christ’s body and blood which grants us eternal life. In John 6:54, Christ tells us “Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.”
